Roanoke Regional Partnership

This film was a long time in the process. We had a lot of locations to cover and some interesting shots to pull off, including a fantastic drone shot of the Roanoke Valley at the very end. It also required a significant amount of time in post production. To highlight data points for the region, we used motion tracking to attach graphics to the imagery giving the effect that the graphics are part of the scenery. In addition to the motion tracking, rotoscoping was utilized to mask the area around the bicycle riders so they would appear to ride over the graphics rather than the graphics laying on top of the entire picture. The film was edited in Final Cut Pro with compositing and motion graphics done in Motion and with Mocha from directly within Final Cut Pro. Color grading was done in DaVinci Resolve.

Most of the footage was shot on the Blackmagic Production Camera 4k. A couple of shots were done with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. A GoPro – HERO3+ Black Edition was used on the bicycle shots. The final shot was done with a Panasonic GH4.

Done in conjunction with Access, the goal was to showcase the Roanoke Region as a great place to do business, live, and play.
