On January 28, 2017, award-winning actress, singer, and dancer Jasmine Guy and the acclaimed Avery Sharpe Trio, performed Raisin’ Cane: A Harlem Renaissance Odyssey at the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Through the Master Class series of workshops presented by the Moss Arts Center, the students at Virginia Tech had a unique opportunity to experience a workshop with Guy. It was an up close and personal experience that had an impact on the aspiring thespians.

Guy was the star of the television show A Different World and has appeared in Broadway and national productions, including Spike Lee’s School Daze, as well as in Harlem Nights.
